Help your child develop flexible thinking skills by studying analogies with this series of workbooks for the primary grades. These books are useful also in preparing children to do well on standardized tests. Book 1, for grades K-1, and Book 2 for second grade present problems with pictures and/or words to match up. The child should already have some reading skills to be successful. Book 3 for third grade uses only words and symbols.

You will need the teacher’s guide and answer key for each book which will give you ideas for teaching your child how to approach analogy problems and will also save you from needless frustration trying to figure out the occasional, ambiguous (or in one case, erroneous) drawing. At the end of each book, the child is invited to make up his own analogies from words in a word bank.
