These cassette tapes assume no prior knowledge, so they are excellent for a basic education in philosophy. However, they are geared towards adults, so save them for mature high schoolers who have developed their analytical thinking to the point where they can grasp the abstract ideas presented. Thirteen, two-tape sets cover Plato, Aristotle, St. Augustine, St. Thomas Aquinas, Spinoza, Hume, Kant, Hegel, Schopenhauer, Kierkegaard, Nietzsche, Dewey, and Sarte. Tapes are not intended to represent a Christian point of view, so use discretion about when to share them with students. These are very challenging, but they are an excellent tool for introducing philosophy and philosophers to those who would find it extremely difficult to wade through philosophy texts or translations of the original writings.
