You Can Teach Your Child Successfully

Dr. Ruth Beechick offers specific how-to's for teaching children in grades 4-8. Her philosophy of education is probably closest to that of Charlotte Mason, especially with her advocacy of real books and practical learning.

As in The Three R's, her advice is practical and easy to implement. Pick and choose which sections to read as needed since this is a fairly hefty book. Don't miss her section on using "narration"--it's one of the best explanations I've ever seen. While Dr. Beechick is good on all subjects, she is especially insightful on language arts instruction.

Note: this book is available in either hardcover or paperback editions.
