Sing, Spell, Read, and Write Pre-KindergartenPearson EducationThis multisensory reading readiness program precedes the well-known Sing, Spell, Read, and Write program which is a 100 Top Picks for Homeschool Curriculum selection.Sing, Spell, Read, and Write, Kindergarten and Level 1 programs contain some readiness activity, but the Pre- Kindergarten kit focuses much more on age-appropriate readiness activities for young children. The Pre- Kindergarten kit includes a teacher’s manual, 5 cassette tapes and one CD (use one or the other), alphabet/key word cards, a package of worksheets, an alphabet placemat (with a chart for marking progress on reverse), alphabet puzzle cards, laminated clock and picture of shoes for learning time telling and shoe tieing, popsicle sticks, stickers, and a small alphabet/number strip. Cassettes and the CD feature children’s songs relating to the various concepts being learned: the alphabet, shapes, numbers, etc. (Words and some of the music are printed in the teacher’s manual.) The teacher’s manual provides daily lesson plan suggestions, suggestions for related children’s literature to read, and a number of hands-on activities from which to choose. Some activities depend upon a classroom setting, but most are easily adaptable for home schoolers. The program requires one-on-one presentation. Worksheet activities (used as worksheets to be done at home with parents for traditional classroom groups) involve coloring, drawing, cutting, and pasting.
