The PEERS Test "World View Opinion Survey" is a great tool for identifying where anyone stands in relation to a biblical worldview. Two levels are available--one for grades 7 – 9 and the other for grades 9 – 16. The letters in PEERS stand for Politics, Economics, Education, Religion, and Social Issues, the areas addressed by questions within the survey. Questions are answered on a scale stretching from strongly agree to strongly disagree, addressing issues such as free enterprise, government-run entitlement programs, premarital sex, and academic freedom.
Tests can be given by anyone, then they are sent to Nehemiah for machine scoring. Scoring reports include scores for the five PEERS categories, character traits (degree of conviction, consistency), view of civil government, likelihood of a person's impact on society, agreement with biblical position on each question, and a summary of results. This test is illuminating! It can also be used with adults.
The test authors clearly advocate particular views of government, economics, and social policy, some of which are not universally accepted by Bible-believing Christians. So keep in mind, that there is an element of "political correctness" present, even though it is likely to be agreeable to most who might use such a test.
The cost per test—$18.95—includes scoring and reporting. This might seem high for a single test, but cost drops dramatically as the number of tests purchased increases. Contact Nehemiah for details. Also, students can now take the test online for only $11.95 with results sent back to the student/parent within about a week. Consider getting together a group to do the test. This is a great tool for Sunday School classes or other church or Christian school groups.
Also from Nehemiah Institute, and probably more practical for many homeschoolers, is a self-scoring, 20-item mini-test for $4.25 each.
