Relativism: Feet Firmly
Planted in Mid-air
Did you know that many seemingly intelligent people believe that morality is a product of evolution? The absurdity of such thinking might be clear to you, but it isn't to most people. As Christians, we need to learn how to challenge such thinking with the truth that there is an external (to man) source for morality.
Beckwith and Koukl do an amazing job of presenting logical arguments against relativism and for absolutes in a manner that high schoolers can understand and use. The work that both these men do in teaching and apologetics activity has clearly provided them with a practical understanding of how relativists think, the issues that revolve around relativist thinking, and the best way to defend Christian positions. The first few chapters are a primer on relativism, but most of the book tackles issues: problems in education (values clarification, multiculturalism, political correctness), legal issues, marriage, the value of life, and morality. Some topics addressed in this book (e.g., homosexuality, pornography) are sensitive, so parents should read the book first to ensure their teen's readiness to deal with them.
