World Proofing Your Kids

The subtitle of this book is misleading. It reads: "Helping Moms Prepare Their Kids to Navigate Today's Turbulent Times." While the author does direct some of her comments directly to moms, the message is just as important and applicable for dads. The book is really about introducing children to worldview thinking and application.

Author Lael Arrington lays a background for parents who are new to the subject then shows how to communicate that knowledge to your children through practical and fun family activities. She tackles current issues from a worldview perspective—abortion, the media and entertainment, feminism, politics, etc.—highlighting current events that make the issues real. In addition, she shows parents how to have family devotion time that children will look forward to as a key to developing worldview understanding.

Full of practical suggestions, the book includes resource suggestions for books and videos that appeal to different age levels to be used as jumping-off points for family discussion on issues and ideas. This is a great introductory book for parents (both moms and dads!) just getting into worldviews.
