Dr. Beechick has extended her imagination beyond the boundaries of Scripture to flesh out the Old Testament Bible stories in Genesis 1-11. She tries to stick to the implications of Scripture, but adds color and interest to help us imagine the thoughts, feelings, and struggles of our Biblical ancestors. The viewpoint is young-earth creationist.
Dr. Beechick adds elements based upon her research in astronomy, archaeology, and other scientific areas. However, her interpretations of some of the information is sometimes debatable.
It is important to note that the book is highly speculative as to much of its detail. Parents need to read and discuss it with their children since it is impossible for those not very familiar with the Bible to separate fact and fiction.
I realize that many unit studies and all-in-one programs used by homeschoolers recommend or incorporate this book, but it really needs to be used with caution to ensure that children do not become confused about actual biblical events.
