Family Math

Family Math

Family Math is a 320-page book that includes creative ways to teach math effectively. It was designed for parents to work with their children at homeā€”to teach, reinforce, and supplement math concepts already covered in a typical math curriculum. It was also designed to turn children (and parents) on to math, which it does very well.

It is organized by various mathematical concepts and skills, then broken down into general age levels within each section. The emphasis is on hands-on learning and practical application.

Lots of games are used, many of them to be photocopied from the book. Activities use common materials that are easily found around the house or purchased. It would be great for a support group to join together to work through Family Math, although it will work very well for individual families. Family Math II and other newer books in the series are also available.
