Progeny Press produces study guides for quite a few well-known novels, all written from a Christian perspective. Different authors wrote each of the guides, so, while there are some similarities, they do vary in format from guide to guide. Also, guides are available for the primary grades, upper elementary grades, middle school, and high school.
Each study guide includes an answer key. Teacher sets inlcude one copy of a study guide and one CD with the PDF pages of the same book. Homeschoolers might find it helpful to have both versions, but they are not necessary.
Older students might work independently, while younger students are more likely to require parental interaction.
Guides are available for books such as The Courage of Sarah Noble, The Cricket in Times Square, Little House in the Big Woods, The Secret Garden, To Kill a Mockingbird, and A Tale of Two Cities. For your convenience, Progeny Press also sells the novels to be read.
Guides for 109 books (with more being added each year) are available as printed books, on CD-ROM, or as downloadable PDF files. The CD-ROM and downloadable versions for grades four through twelve are fully interactive. The interactive versions include weblinks, but even more useful is the fact that students can answer multiple-choice questions and complete their written work entirely on the computer. However, you will probably still want to have students participate in discussions and complete some of the other optional activities that will not be done on the computer. The digital answer keys are in a separate file so you can keep the key on a separate computer if need be. The novels themselves are also available from Progeny Press.
