The whole family will enjoy this book on life in Bible times. The authors examine occupations, agriculture, vineyards and orchards, food and drink, homes and their furnishings, trades carried on in both homes and shops, arts and sciences, travel, trade, commerce, social customs, and family life. Instead of brief dictionary-style entries, each topic is allotted enough space to include details that will hold the interest of both children and adults.
It is interesting enough to read straight through, or you can use it as a reference book. If you read it straight through you can use the discussion questions at the end of each chapter. Either way, you might want to try some of the research and hands-on activities also found at the ends of chapters.
