Scripture Memory Fellowship has been around for many, many years. They offer Scripture memory programs for preschoolers through adults, along with awards to be earned as memory students progress. They provide each "student" with a memory book, which the memorizer selects according to grade level or previous experience in memorizing God's Word. For the most part, verses are in King James Version or the New King James Version and are all arranged topically.
You enroll as a family, one person, a church class, or a neighborhood group. You also select your supervisor who encourages you and helps keep track of progress.
You may either purchase the memory books outright or enroll with rewards that you select from their list contained in the Scripture Memorizer. These incentives (rewards) are primarily Christian books--selections for all ages and a variety of interests.
There are memory books for memorizers at all levels, including easier adult programs for those new to Scripture memorization. They suggest that fall is the best time to enroll but enrollments are welcomed at any time of the year. Each September a new list of rewards is available.
The enrollment fee is kept to a minimum and represents about one-third of their actual cost; the remainder is subsidized by supporters of the ministry. No one is turned away.
N. A. Woychuk, the developer of the memory books, has also written a 161-page paperback titled You Need to Memorize Scripture that presents encouraging testimonials and offers some memorizing tips that others have found helpful.
