Thirty-nine beginning readers are available, grouped into three "volumes" or groups of books. There are 18 readers in each volume. There's also a starter set that includes 39 of the readers. For students who need more listening experience or auditory input, there is a CD recording or the content of the readers in volume 1. I found a couple of the stories objectionable, but these could easily be omitted.
These are solid, phonics-based readers that work in a progression from short-vowel words through long-vowel words.
These readers correlate with Recipe for Reading, a very good manual for teaching reading, from the same publisher. While these work well with Recipe for Reading, they will also serve as reading material for most phonics programs.
