This 420-page book covers the history of the Church from its beginnings to recent times. The author appears to be writing from a Reformed Christian perspective, but he takes a very evenhanded approach to differences between denominations. Even Catholicism is treated fairly, although changes within the Catholic Church over the past few decades are not dealt with adequately. The original edition of this book was written in 1951, and it has been updated periodically (latest edition is 1988), but there are occasional areas that need further updating. Questions are posed at the end of each chapter. There is no teacher guide available, and the text is best used with students in grades 11 and 12.
